What Baby Bump Says About Your Baby...
Your baby bump can reveal a lot of secrets about the unborn baby. Some experienced women say that the shape of the baby bump is one of the simplest ways to predict the gender of the growing foetus. There are many other things that can be predicted about the unborn baby by just looking at your pregnant belly. While most of these pregnancy myths about the baby bump are old wives tales, some have scientific base as well.
For example, if your baby bumps shape keeps changing, it means your baby will be very active. There is a simple scientific explanation for this prediction. If the shape of your baby bump keeps changing then it is because your baby moves a lot inside the womb. So we can assume that the baby will be active.
Gender prediction of the baby is also done looking at the shape and size of the baby bump. This too can be attributed to some far fetched scientific facts. Both male and female foetuses have different foetal positions in the womb. They also have a different growth rate. That is why, it may be possible to predict the baby's gender to a certain extent by looking at the baby bump.
Here are some of the things that can be predicted by looking at your baby bump.
Big Baby Bump: Its A Girl!
When you have a huge baby bump that is fully rounded like a watermelon, it is a girl. This is because the foetal position of the girl child makes your belly bloat up.
Small Baby Bump: Its A Boy
The exact converse of the first point holds for baby boys. The baby boy's foetal position is such that you have cute little bump. But both these pregnancy myths are not full-proof.
Baby Bump Changing Shape?
When your baby bump keeps changing shape very frequently, it means your baby is going to be very active. This is because, when the baby moves within the womb, your baby bump changes shape.
Low Baby Bump? Its A Boy
Old wives say that a male foetus always attaches itself to the lower portion of the uterus. That is why a woman pregnant with a boy has a low lying baby bump.
High Baby Bump? Its A Girl
If your baby bump starts right after your bosom, it means you are going to have a baby girl. This is because the female foetus attaches itself to the upper portion of the womb.
Tight Baby Bump? Its A Boy
If your belly starts tightening in the third trimester of pregnancy, it means that you will have a boy. Now there is no scientific explanation for this but it is folklore and collective wisdom of experienced women.
When Will The Baby Come?
Usually you have to do an ultrasound scan to see the position of the baby. But some experienced women can tell by the shape of the baby bump that the labour is due in few days time. This is because the baby takes the birth position at least a week before the actual birth.
Big Baby Bump Doesn't Mean Big Baby
Even the pregnancy myths don't say that a big baby bump means a healthy and strong baby. In fact, sometimes a huge baby can be hidden in a tiny baby bump!
