Safe Sleeping Positions During Pregnancy

Pregnancy is a period of happiness and also a period of discomfort. Trying to get comfort at night when you are pregnant is not something easy. Pregnancy may cause troubles in sleeping and you may have to try various sleeping positions before you get comfortable. If you are pregnant you may be suffering from back ache, sleeplessness, heart burn etc., it is another night of inconvenience.

Sleeping position pregnancy is something important to consider. For definite reasons, you can't consider sleeping on your stomach. Sleep during pregnancy may generally be less and to add to it you may have several other problems and inconveniences. You can't sleep on your back too, this adds to the discomfort. It is imperative that you find a safe sleeping position pregnancy since you have to take care of you and also your fetus.

Safe Sleeping Positions During Pregnancy

Pregnancy is a time when you learn to wrestle on your bed. You may have a feeling that everything is uncomfortable. Nothing can make you happy. Your regular sleeping patterns and positions may no longer work. The increasing size of abdomen and other ailments like back ache and hear burn may affect your sleep during pregnancy. Here are some safe sleeping positions during pregnancy. Read on.

Try the SOS
SOS- Sleeping on Side is something you can try during pregnancy. The best thing is to sleep on your left side as it is said to increase blood flow. One of the best sleeping position pregnancy is to lie on your side and place a pillow between your legs. This may improve sleep during pregnancy.

Sleeping on your front
You can try this position and continue sleeping on your front until you feel it is uncomfortable. However, you may start getting uncomfortable between 12-14 weeks. Until 20-26 weeks you may also continue sleeping on your back.

Bend your knees a bit
One of the safe sleeping position pregnancy is to sleep on your left side with your knees bent. Although it is immaterial on which side you sleep, sleeping on left side is found to be healthier. It is also said that sleeping on left side reduces still birth. Some medicos even suggest avoiding to sleep on the right side as it may reduce the blood flow.

Add some softness
Try adding some softness and go for something extra on your foam or mattresses. This extra softness may bring you the needed comfort. Try new sleeping position pregnancy on your extra soft mattress.

Try more and more pillows
Pregnant women may feel uncomfortable sleeping on side with the increased size of abdomen. The answer to this is -pillows!! Try more and more pillows. Tuck pillows wherever necessary. Try tucking a pillow -one to your head, one below your belly, one between your knees, and if you are too fond of pillows, hug one too!! These pillows may support you when you roll around and also it is a safe thing to do even while you near your delivery date. This may also make sleep during pregnancy comfortable.

Change frequently and find your position
Finding sleeping position pregnancy is not so easy. You may have to work on it and find the one you are comfortable with. Hence change your positions frequently and find the one which suits the best for you and makes you comfortable.

Sleeping position pregnancy should be chosen carefully, such that the fetus is safe and healthy. Sleeping on the left side is commonly recommended. Front and back sleepers may have a tough time getting adjusted to sleeping with the new position. Hence start sleeping on your new position a few weeks earlier.
