Abdominal pain during pregnancy are often very scary, When a women gets pregnant, especially for the first time, even a slight pain can make her conscious. While some amount of abdominal pain during pregnancy is common, it may also be a symptom of some critical problems. You have to understand and define what kind of pregnancy pains you are experiencing.

You have different kinds abdominal pains at different stages of pregnancy. Some amount of pains in the early stages of pregnancy is common. But once you enter the second trimester, severe pains are rare.

Causes Of Abdominal Pain In Pregnancy

Here are some of causes of abdominal pains during pregnancy that you must be aware of.

Implantation
During the first 2 to 6 weeks of pregnancy, the foetus implants itself in the womb. When this implantation happens in the early stages of pregnancy, slight cramping is common. You actually feel like you are about to have your periods but actually, the foetus is implanting in the uterus.

Hormonal Changes
Pregnancy is associated with many hormonal changes. Some of these hormonal changes can make your stomach cramp. This too happens in the early stages of pregnancy.

Ectopic Pregnancy
When the foetus implants in the fallopian tubes instead of the uterus, it is called an ectopic pregnancy. This kind of pregnancy always ends in miscarriage or it is detected and terminated medically. Ectopic pregnancy will result in sharp pains. This may not happen within the first 4 to 6 weeks of pregnancy. But after that, the pain increases every day and may even end up in rupturing your tubes.

Baby Movement
Once you are 5 to 6 months pregnant, the baby starts moving. If your naughty baby moves suddenly or kicks you from within, then it might cause shock or cramp.

Miscarriage
Sometimes severe pains accompanied by bleeding during pregnancy is a sign of miscarriage. If your bleed is heavy and pain does not stop after half an hour, you need to get yourself to a hospital immediately.

False Or Early Labour
Once you cross the 36 weeks mark, you are expecting labour pain any moment. Due to your sub conscious effect, you may feel phantom or false labour pains. But if this happens in the 7th or 8th month, it might also be pre-term labour pains.
