Breastfeeding is very important for lactating mothers. The breast milk is considered very healthy and nutritious for a newborn. However, weaning becomes difficult for breastfeeding mothers. While few moms wean from 4-7 months after birth of their child, there are many new moms who continue to breastfeed for more than a year.

If you want to wean your baby and get him/her used to bottle feeding, here are few simple and effective tips for you. Follow these weaning tips so that you can swiftly take transition from breastfeeding to bottle or cup.

Go slow: This is one of the most important weaning tips that breastfeeding mothers should follow. Skipping from break milk to formula milk is not easy. The baby develops a taste towards your milk so, it is not easy to wean. Slowly, introduce your baby to bottle milk. In the beginning days, it is very difficult to make your baby drink outside milk. But, with constant efforts, your child will develop a taste towards bottle milk.

Do not stop breastfeeding completely: Although you are trying to wean, you should not stop breastfeeding immediately till the baby starts getting used to bottle milk. New mothers can reduce breastfeeding but you should not stop instantly.

Nipple types: One of the weaning tips for breastfeeding mothers is, experiment with different types of nipples available in the market. To make it easy for the baby to suck milk from the bottle, pick up a nipple that resembles your breast. Make sure the nipple is small enough to enter the small mouth of your baby.

Abrupt weaning: When a breastfeeding mother is in the process of weaning, she needs to change the time for feeding. A child is very attached to morning and night feedings. So, do not disturb that while weaning.

Do not refuse: This is one of the most important weaning tips for breastfeeding mothers. If your child wants to be fed and you refuse, this can lead to back reaction. Your child might refuse to drink milk. So, do not refuse when your child needs it. Feed him/her when required.

Divert the mind: When you are in the process of weaning, you have to divert your child's mind. Give some toys or keep talking. Introduce your child to new things every time you want to feed outside milk.
