Parenting Challenges For Working Couples
Parenting challenges with today's kids are just way too many. This generation of kids are much faster and smarter. And the world too has become full of distractions. For example, we had only the television while growing up; that to with limited channels. But today's kids have Internet, phones, tablets and many more distractions. So imagine the parenting challenges for working couples who have deal with their jobs and their kids at the same time.
In most households, both parents are working. That leaves the kids to be attended by nannies or in day care centres. Either ways, these kids get little time with their parents. But your child cannot grow faster because you are working in an office. You cannot expect the child to understand that you are tired after coming back from office.
PARENTING TIPS FOR DIVORCED COUPLES
These factors contribute to making the parenting challenges for working couples far more intense. The key to managing the situation is having an optimum work life balance which is very hard to achieve.
Here are some of the major problems that working parents face with regards to their children.
Giving enough time
Most of us are dock tired after getting back home from office. But working parents have to give the child all their time after they get back home. That is a huge sacrifice.
Watching the nanny
You can hire a nanny to watch the child but who will watch the nanny? You need to keep an eye on whether the nanny is treating your child properly. She should not over indulge the child or abuse the child in any way.
Choosing the best day care facilities
One of the major challenges of working couples is to choose a day care facility that is both appropriate and affordable. Ideally such a place should not be very far from your office or home.
Being vigilant of your child’s activities
What does your child do when you at work? Does he or she surf inappropriate sites on the Internet? Is your child becoming addicted to TV. As a vigilant parent, you must know all this.
Being close to the child
If you are going to be away at work for 10 to 12 hours, the child will hardly get time to know you. But you have devote all your energies to becoming your child's friend.
Covering for each other
Working parents have to understand each other's work schedules. If the father cannot attend a PTA meeting, then the mother has to make time and vice verse.
Managing emergencies
When you become a parent, you have deal with many crisis situations. Your child might have an accident while playing in school. Even if your child is getting late for school, you have to give priority to his or her needs before yours.
Caring for a sick child
Most of us who work in corporate companies know that it not easy to leaves from work. So what happens when your child is sick and needs your care? It is one of the leading challenges of parenting today.
Not spoiling the child
As working parents see their children so little, they tend to over-indulge the child. You must make sure that you discipline the child when it is required.
Putting up an united front
Your child sees you and your spouse as one entity. You must overcome your parenting differences to put up an united front. If you squabble over the child, it will be a great parenting mistake.
