How To Help Kid Being Bullied At School?

A school is a place where you develop and nurture a child emotionally and mentally. Care should be taken not to hurt the child. Both parents and teachers need to help the child with this.

A small incident can scar the child for life. Each child is precious and needs to be treated the same. A child who is being bullied in school will need a lot of support from his family members.

How To Help Kid Being Bullied At School?

If your child avoids to go to the bathroom, guess this is the place where the bullies attack as they are away from the cameras and adults.

The other warning signs include getting upset after a call or a text message, losing their friends that they had, being isolated most of the time, staying away from the activities they always enjoyed and making negative statements about themselves.

If you notice any of these symptoms in your child, it means that the kid is being bullied. The following are a few ways that you can save kid from being bullied.

Listen to your Child
Give your child some time every day, talk to him and understand how his day was, what he did. This will allow him to open up when the kid being bullied also. Ask him how you can help him, try to be supportive and neutral. You might be hurt with what he says, but listen calmly. Try not to blame your child for it, this will only make him anxious and might not talk about it again.

Don’t retaliate
Though it is very tempting there is no point retaliating with the bully or his family. This will also help the child to understand how to solve a problem. More than putting the blame on the bully, try and relax and see how you can help your child. Retaliating will not help the child in anyway, so relax and work towards making your child feel better.

Teach your child how to react
Kids who bully pick children who are sensitive and take teasing to heart. You can coach your child how to react to bullies and how not to react. You can also do role plays at home which will encourage your child to understand better on how to react.

Teacher to help
You need not have to take the entire burden of your kid being bullied. The teacher also is partly responsible, as the incident is in their school. Bring it to the notice of the teacher. This will allow the teacher to help the child. You can also tell the child to contact the teacher if he needs any help.

Take your child’s side
Try not to blame your child, this will only hurt your child more and it will come to a stage where he will not be able to talk to you anymore. This will go way beyond you can help him and you will need to seek professional help to heal the wounds that have been created because of the bullying.
