This children's day, instead of gifting sugar candies to your child, it is best to present useful gifts which can keep them healthy. Kids love to munch sugar coated chocolates or candies but these sweeteners can be really harmful on the health as it can cause diabetes in the later stage. Prevent your kid from diabetes by taking health precautions. To make children's day special and healthy for your child, here are some ideas.

Check the diet: Take a look at the diet of your child. Include nutritious food which keeps them healthy and controls their weight. Apples, bananas, broccoli, cabbage, asparagus, spinach, carrots, oranges, grapes, tomatoes, berries, pear, deep fried seafood and lean meat are healthy.

Fat: If your child is putting on weight then it is time to control the calories intake. Kids too have chances of suffering from diabetes especially Type 1. Take a look at the calories in the food. Low fat diary products are best to prevent them your child from putting on unwanted weight.

Replace candies: As it is children's day, gift low fat and sugar free candies to your kid. Candies are one of the common reasons behind kid's health problems such as diabetes, mouth odour and tooth decay. Kids love chocolates and it is difficult to control their urge for sweets. Reduce the amount of candies from per day to weekly basis if you wish to control blood sugar.

Play with them: This children's day, a day out would be the best gift idea for your child. To make the day special, go out and play some outdoor games. This helps in keeping the child healthy by controlling body weight. They also stay fit and active.

Check: If your child shows symptoms such as weight loss, fatigue, dizziness, blurred vision, vomiting and nausea, it is time to take them for a blood test. These are symptoms of blood sugar (diabetes) which requires attention.
