Pregnancy is the most exciting experience in the life of a woman!! Is it true?? Probably, you might not have asked all the women around you. There will be at least a certain percentage of women who may wonder what is there so great in a pregnancy. Not only that, they will not be able to think even about getting pregnant. In their opinion, pregnancy is a terrible and horrifying experience. The reason is nothing other than pregnancy phobia.

Pregnancy phobia is a condition where women have a fear for pregnancy and child birth. It is also known as tokophobia. For getting pregnant like all other women, it is important to overcome pregnancy phobia. Women with primary tokophobia may not have a real life experience to be afraid of. Support: If your partner is having tokophobia, it is important to give her immense support and care. Never try to make fun of her and understand that different people have different phobias. Stand by her and talk to her about her concerns. Getting pregnant is important, but to make her have a happy pregnancy is more important.
Understand: Have a transparent communication with your partner and try to understand what point or stage of a pregnancy makes her afraid. Some women fear that an alien will grow in their uterus, while some others love children, but afraid of delivery pain. Understanding their concerns will help you design the correct strategy to overcome pregnancy phobia.
Know more: Instead of living in an imaginary world, try to know more about pregnancy as a physiological process. Avoid going through forums talks and discussions, where people can say anything without any medical support or scientific proof. Stay away from myths and old wives tales. Read medical books on pregnancy.
Be positive: Every woman has to go through the process of pregnancy and delivery if they want a child to share their life. Understand that there are millions of women who had experienced pregnancy safely, including your mother. Just try to shorten the process of delivery as a pain experience for just one day and avoid worrying about it all the time.
Belief and faith: The best thing that will keep you positive is the belief you will go through all the stages of pregnancy safely. But, since this has a mental or emotional factor, the process is not that easy as said. You have to be patient and should be able to try different methods to find the best that will work.
Medical advice: There will be conditions when you have to seek professional medical support. Don’t feel ashamed for this because you are not the only one with this problem. A professional counseling may be the best idea to overcome pregnancy phobia in most women.
