How TV Habits Can Affect Moms-to-be
A new study on moms-to-be has indicated that women who watch too much television while eating a meal will go on to continue their habit while pregnant, thereby affecting the child's health. Apart from disrupting the woman's normal metabolism rate, watching television while eating can have an effect on the child's metabolism rate as well.
Moreover, surveys have revealed that moms-to-be who watch too much television while eating will do so even during their baby's feeding. The child eventually grows up to develop that habit and overeating inevitably becomes a norm. So, TV habits of moms-to-be do not affect just moms but also affect the toddler. This article speaks about how TV habits can affect moms-to-be.
One of the major reasons why television can negatively affect babies is that moms-to-be who watch too much television fail to identify subtle clues that show their baby is full. This inculcates the habit of overeating in a child, causing a negative alteration in the child's metabolism rate. Studies have concretely attested that TV habits of moms-to-be can lead to a poor diet which later goes on to hamper the body's ability to absorb essential nutrients.
New York University of Medical Science conducted a survey on about 180 women and analysed TV habits of moms-to-be. Their television habits while eating were ascertained during the period of the third trimester.
Again, during feeding the baby, their television habits were understood again. Based on results obtained, it was comprehended that most women who watched too much television were overweight themselves, with some of them being obese.
Only television habits were inquired about. Usage of cell phones, smartphones, computers and tablets were kept outside the ambit of inquiry.
Once television habits of mom's were understood, television habits of overweight children below the age of three were studied. It was found that a staggering 75 percent of moms of the overweight kids were hardcore television enthusiasts. It was also ascertained that scores of other minor health problems were a result of uncanny television habits during a meal.
Also, it was found out that majority of moms-to-be who watched television during mealtime were under the age of 25, revealing that younger moms have a greater tendency towards watching television during mealtime.
Thus, it goes without saying that television during meal isn't such a great idea, noting that the habit passes on, almost 90 percent of the time, to the kids.
