Outraging the modesty of a woman has become a common crime. There are different laws for rape or sexual assault in different countries. In many countries it is a death penalty. Despite strict laws for rape, there is not much decrease in the incidences reported. Indeed, the rate of the crime is only increasing.
Rape is amongst the cruel crimes in the world and the victims suffer from both mental and emotional trauma. If we talk of India, it is not safe to walk alone on the road or stay all alone in our own house as the rape criminals may be roaming around and searching for a target.

In a latest case in new Delhi, a girl named nirbhaya was brutally raped and later beaten to death in a bus. After that incident, a teenage Dalit girl was raped and her body was later found hanging from a tree in Uttar Pradesh. There are many more cases like this which have not even been reported.
Rape happens in every country of world, however the difference lies in the number. We have listed here some of the countries in which the rape crimes are more prevalent.
United States
US is the super power of the world but unfortunately, It rates high when it comes to the number of rape crimes. 99% of the rapists are male. 91% of the victims are females and the remaining 9% males
India
India is a hub of rapes and sexual offenses against women and children. The rate of rape incidences are increasing day by day. Girls and women are getting raped on road sides, buses, cabs, schools and everywhere. There were 24,923 reported rape cases in the year 2012 but the number could be more as many rape cases are not often reported in India. Out of these, 24,470 were committed by someone known to the victim. Every 22 minutes, a new rape case is reported in India.
South Africa
It is known as the rape capital of the world as there have been 65000 cases of rape and other sexual assaults reported in the year 2012. South Africa has the highest reported incidences of child and baby rape in the world. If the victim is convicted, he only gets two years of imprisonment.
United kingdom
UK is one of the most developed countries in the world but is badly involved in rape cases. A report says that approximately 85,000 women are raped in England and Wales every year and 40000 women are sexually assaulted annually.
Sweden
One amongst every four women comes out to be the victim of rape in Sweden. The rape incidences are increasing year after year. In 2009 there were 15,700 reported sexual offenses in Sweden.
Germany
It is very unfortunate to say that almost 240,000 women died in Germany because of rape crimes. The number of rapes in Germany is shocking and it went up to 6,507,394 this year.
France
Rape was not a crime in France until 1980. The laws protecting the modesty of women came only after 1980. A study shows there are 75,000 rapes a year in France and only about 10 percent of the victims filed complaints.
Canada
According to Huffington post, there are 460,000 sexual assaults in the country every year. However, only 6% of incidents are reported to the police. Maximum incidents occur in the home and 80% of assailants are friends and family of the victim.
Australia
During the year 2012, there were 512000 victims of sexual assault in Australia.
Denmark
In Denmark 500 rapes are reported per year. Almost 52 percent of women in Denmark were said to have suffered sexual abuse.
