5 Things Taught By India's First Lesbian Ad
Wow! India's first lesbian ad is here and we have a lot to learn from it. We being Indians always say that line 'be the change you want to see' but we never give enough room for change in actuality.
We should know that being homosexual is simply accepting who you are. We are all masters in judging things that are a little out-of-the-box but have we ever wondered that "out-of-the-box" might judge us too?
Well, let's not go debating, rather focus on this particular Indian lesbian ad that is salute worthy and breaks all those unnecessary social norms built by the people sometimes in the name of God and sometimes in the name of morality.
Let's pin down five things that we get to learn from this viral lesbian ad:
1. We talk about love and this video shows something we always tend to forget that LOVE IS LOVE, be it any gender. Love is a feeling and we have forgotten in the midst of all this social hoo-haa that love is same and normal for the lesbians and homosexual people as it is for the straight. Have you seen lesbians eating with their nose ever? Well, it's the same.
2. Secondly, it teaches us kindness and respect for humanity, and that love knows no gender, caste, culture, religion or morals. Being critical helps no one but it just cages the mindset of all.
3. This ad brings in the angle of the parents too. Parents should be the last ones to judge and they should understand what it is like for their children and not punish or judge them. Haven't we all heard that it is from our parents that we first learn how to love?
4. Indian perspective is such that they call a girl beautiful, only if she is meek and subtle. But one should know that a girl is also beautiful when bold and no matter whom she chooses to love or be with. Who made the rule that girls are only beautiful when they follow the boring social norms? They can be as bold and beautiful when they accept who they actually are and not hide it.
5. The last and one of the most important things this ad teaches us is, to be proud of who you are. If you are proud of who you are, people will eventually be proud of you too. If you are scared and ashamed of who you are, how will you ever expect anyone else to be proud of you.
Salute to all those LGBT people. Be proud of who you are!
