Five Things That Happen When You Go For Voting

So it is Lok Sabha election time. A lot of people are making use of their right to vote and play their role for a better India. The trend of posting selfies too has been linked to elections now. People have started posting selfies where they are flaunting their inked finger to show that they are practising their democratic right to vote.

Well, there are certain things that you do or rather experience when you cast your first vote. First-time voting is very special for the teens who are enjoying their right to vote. For example, a lot of people get up early on the voting day thinking that they would be among the few to reach early and can easily vote without standing in the queue. However, once they reach, they would be surprised to see more than 100 people standing in the queue to cast their vote.

Similarly, first-time voters feel very proud when they receive their voter id card. Even if the picture looks dark and is black and white, you will have that awesome moment when you will feel that you are grown up now and matured enough to take your own decisions!

Here are some of the most common experiences of a first-time voter.

Five Things That Happen When You Go For Voting

Getting Up Early: A lot of people get up early so as to avoid the chances of standing in the queue for hours just to drop their vote! Even if you get up at 8 am, you would find a huge crowd of voters which you can't avoid.

Finding Your Name: After reaching the voting booth, you would have to waste some 10-15 minutes for finding out your name in the voter list. Then you have to stand in another queue to collect your voter slip that you need to present before voting.

Debates: While you are waiting to drop your vote, you will be surrounded with some mindless debates and conversations about the parties and leaders. Worst is, suppressing your laugh when you hear funny things about politicians.

Casting The Vote: After showing your slip, you enter the booth where you will finally drop your vote to the party which you feel deserves your support.

The Ink: When the personnel applies ink on your finger, you would feel proud. But as soon as you leave the place, you start rubbing your finger to get rid of the ink. However, the magic ink would spread in the finger and skin. You would then show it to people and say, "I gave my vote!"

These are a few things that happen when you go to cast your vote. Be it first timer or regular voting, a citizen does face such experiences.
