Are You Adding Office Colleagues On Facebook?

The whole world is on Facebook these days. Facebook had started as a medium for friends to meet and share things. But now, we are making anybody and everybody our friend on Facebook. It is also common to add your office colleagues on Facebook without a second thought.

IMPORTANT THINGS TO NEVER SHARE ON FACEBOOK

However, the public nature of Facebook may cause some problems in your work life. Your Facebook friends can now see almost every aspect of your life including where you are at this point of time and with whom. That why, adding office colleagues on Facebook causes additional problems.

If you are the kind of person who shares every detail of his or her life on Facebook, then you probably shouldn't add your co-works on this social networking site. Here are some reasons for not adding office colleagues on Facebook.

Office Colleagues On Facebook

Embarrassing Pictures
A picture speaks a thousand words. And Facebook is all about pictures. Sometimes, these Facebook pictures may not be flattering to your professional image. For example, do you really want your boss to know how you look when you have mixed your drinks?

Time, Place and Reason
Suppose you bunk office faking a cold and then post pictures of a day trip on Facebook. What exactly will your colleagues and superiors think of you? In fact, do you even want your office colleagues to find out who your girlfriend is and what you were doing last night?

Offensive Jokes
We all like to let loose and laugh once in a while. And our mirth often comes at the expense of others. There are really funny jokes about bosses, human resources people and even about different communities. Now you may not have anything personal against your boss but you like a joke about bosses; don't you think your boss think it has a personal connection?

Too Much About You
Facebook has information about what you like, what your hobbies are what kind of movies you watch. When people know all this information about you, they can easily make judgements. Suppose you like a movie that has lots of hot scenes. Your co-works who are also your Facebook friends may assume you are a pervert!

Using Information Against You
Your office colleagues rarely become your true friends. You cannot share everything with them in real life and that is why, you shouldn't share your life with them on cyberspace as well. Office is a place where everyone has to compete and your colleagues may use information they have against you.

If you still wish to add office colleagues on Facebook, make sure you have all the privacy settings in place.
