Ugadi is celebrated as Kannada New Year in Karnataka and Telugu New Year in Andhra Pradesh. It is a day that is commonly known as Gudi Padwa in Maharashtra. People celebrate their new year by worshipping Lord Ganesha, preparing special Ugadi recipes and visiting friends & relatives. We all want to welcome the New Year with joy and expect good health, wealth and prosperity.
So, here are few smart things that you should definitely do on this Ugadi, which will be celebrated on 13 April.

Prepare special delicacies: As it is New Year, treat your taste buds by preparing some special delicacies this Ugadi. Make sure you prepare traditional dishes and desserts to savour on this special day. Dine with your family members and welcome the new year with joy, togetherness and love.
Worship God: Commence your new year by worshipping God. Take His/Her blessings and ask for a good and healthy new year ahead. Worshipping God enlightens your mind and soul and also makes you feel mentally good. Visit a temple if you want to, but be careful with the timings. On Ugadi, all the temples will be flooded with devotees who visit to seek blessings from God.
Visit an NGO: It is one of the things you must do on Ugadi. Poor, lonely and needy people need you so, just visit the nearest NGO and spend some time with them. Take some gifts if possible. The smile on their faces is one of the things you can't miss.
Hang out with friends and relatives: Welcome the new year by meeting up with your friends and relatives. Do something good that makes you feel happy. Laugh with your friends and hog on some chaats on the streets.
Gift someone special: A festival is incomplete without a gift. Married couples can gift each other and welcome New year with love and romance. Children can gift their parents and vice-versa.
