House Guests
You are very excited about a house guest who is visiting you after a long time. You make arrangements to make the guest feel very comfortable. However, your guest is so happy about the hospitality extended that he prefers to extend his stay – but, without your consent!

This creates a very awkward situation, as everyone is taught to handle a house guest's visit with utmost care and concern. But does this mean that you have to bear them for however long they stay? Not at all! Here are a few handy tips that help in handling a house guest who stays too long.

7 tips to handle your house guest

1.When your house guest calls you in advance to announce his visit, tell him clearly about your other appointments, so that he will not stay for too long. For example, if he is visiting on a Sunday, and that is the day you wake up late or finish your chores, then let him know that he can come in by noon or later. This way you won't disturbing your sleep or household chores.

2.Sometimes your guest might plan to stay for more than a couple of days and this might be too difficult for you to manage. In this case, clearly tell your him that you are free only during the weekends. This way, he'll understand that you are occupied with other tasks during weekdays.

3.Lay down the rules of the house to your guest too. There might be some, which your guest is not very comfortable about and might want him to evacuate the house earlier than you expected.

4.When you do not like any particular behaviour of your guest, let him know about it. If anything he does or says might seem to have a bad effect on your children, let him know about it.

5.Be very open about how you feel about the guest's behaviour. Even if it is appreciating him for some help or criticize him for an annoying gesture. This will make the guest realize that you are not always there to accept anything and everything from his end.

6.Plan as many outings as possible with your guests, so that you do not end up staying at home, doing things for the guests sake all the time. Do not offer to bear the expenses whenever you go out. If he offers to pay for transport or tickets, let him do so. Every guest wants to get pampered, while only few will love to pamper in return.

7.Let your guest know about how happy you are about their present visit and how welcome they'll be during their next visit. This is one way to indicate that it is time for them to leave.

Having a guest can be very fun and tiresome at the same time. By following the above tips, you can ensure to enjoy their visit, without burdening yourself too much.
