Handle Office Politics Tactfully
Office politics, can sometimes go to the extent of causing depression but the challenge is to fight it. Here are a few tips to tackle office politics -
1.Don't Play The Game – The best way is to not get involved but be a spectator. Let the players try their best to get a bite about a situation from you but you keep mum. They will let you be. This may sound easy but trust me it is not. They will keep trying for a long time and it takes some time to get them depressed. But it will work.
2.Know Your Work Well – Do your work perfectly. Make your duties clear with your boss. Be perfect at it and you will be safe. Your perfection will help you to stay away from the malpractice.
3.Don't Be An Open Book – Only if they know you can they play with you. Keep your desires, dreams, assumption, plans to yourself. If they don't know your plan they won't know what to do.
4.Everyone Is Good – Never speak ill of anyone. One slip of tongue and you are in the game. Control your desire to speak ill of your enemy to colleagues.
5.Speak Occasionally – Speak out only after you have achieved something. Even if you are sure of your achievement, don't speak of it before hand. This will not give them a chance to hamper your work.
6.Keep Your Eyes Open – Be aware of what is going on around you. This will allow you to know. Be friends with everyone and discourage them to gossip. This will make you the good man and liked by all.
7.Let You Be Talked About – You may be the next target but don't get disturbed with what they speak or think of you. Believe in yourself and if you think you are right, then don't bother. In the due course of time, people will value your silence on torture.
These seven steps will prevent you from office politics and also teach you to handle it. Office politics can make working atmosphere difficult but don't give up and leave. That would be failure, fight it with these seven tools.
