'Space Elevator' For Heaven!

Space Elevator' Created
Scientists have created a breakthrough that can revolutionize the concept of 'space travel'. The 'space elevator, created by the British scientist is straight out of the sci-fic fantasy and is dubbed the 'stairway to heaven'.

The world's strongest ribbon is created is made from the cylindrical strand of carbon that combines lightweight flexibility with incredible strength and has the potential to stretch vast distances, as reported by the TimesOnline. The creation is a result of the Cambridge University boffins, who utilized the of 2.7-million pound research prize from NASA .

This creation is highly favored by the space scientist who believe that this could allow the astronauts to to travel into space via a cable thousands of miles long, space elevator. This could also make the space travel cheap and limitless.

About 1 gram of gram of the high-tech material is produced by the Cambridge team, this is enough to stretch18 miles in length. “We have Nasa on the phone asking for 144,000 miles of the stuff, but there is a difference between what can be achieved in a lab and on an industrial level," says Alan Windle, professor of materials science at Cambridge University, who is anxious not to let the work get ahead of itself.
