A Landslide That Closed Highway 1 In California
A large portion of Southbound lane in Monterey County, California, broke away on March 17th, 2011. It left a large hole in the road. Luckily, nobody was hurt. The landslide closed the highway and made it difficult for people to travel.

A photographer named Miles Morgan hails from Portland, Oregon. He had spent the past several years scaling active volcanoes on the Hawaiian Islands to capture the most beautiful pictures of red hot lava flowing, and he has captured this beautiful moment of lava flowing into the ocean.

Undersea Volcano in Tonga, Polynesia
The Tonga undersea volcanic eruption took place on March 16, 2009. This happened near the island of Hunga Tonga, which is approximately 11 kilometres from the Tongan capital of Tongatapu. Reports showed that after 4 days of eruption of this volcano, there was a strong earthquake that also struck the region and measured 7.6 on the Richter scale.

This heart-wrenching image of people trying to run away from the tsunami sure makes one feel bad. The innocent smiling faces in this picture only shows that the people were not ready for this calamity to strike. This was one of the worst tsunamis ever to have taken place, which had killed over 230,000 people in fourteen countries!

More than a dozen people lost their lives due to continuous downpours in Uttarakhand state, India, during the monsoon rain on the Jamuna river. The floods and landslides in northern India killed at least 1000 people with thousands more missing during the year 2006.
