WIFW 2014 Day 1: Designers Wrap Up

Day 1 of the Wills India Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2014 was filled with intricate designs showcased by ace designers. The show opened with the golden rush collection by Tarun Tahiliani. Black and other colours were seen on the ramp which looked classy and contemporary.

The show was then headed by other designers like Anupama Dayal, Vineet Bahl, Kiran Uttam Ghosh, Raakesh Agarvwal, Shantanu and Nikhil and Rina Dhaka. Overall, Day 1 of WIFW AW 2014 was filled with vivid designs, colours, prints, silhouettes which looked classy, bold and stylish.

We even saw some bold and sassy collection on the runway. Raakesh Agarvwal showcased an S&M inspired bondage collection which included hand cuffs, erratic chains, thick neck ties. From swimsuit to sheer, Raakesh turned the stage on fire. Anupama Dayal on the other side showed a sexy Kamasutra inspired collection which was named Kama. Short cholis and colourful frilled lehengas looked traditionally stylish.

Kiran Uttam Ghosh too showcased flared colourful silhouettes which looked chic and sophisticated. Vineet Bahl used his trademark Banarasi fabrics along with Tussar, Georgette. Lace, thread embroidery and chikan work were extensively seen in his collection. We saw lehengas, palazzo pants and the typical beaver kurtis in this collection. checkered patterns and hand sewn sequins held the common thread of the collection.

Saris with waist belts, dhoti pants, printed jackets, lungi skirts, kaftans with belts, intricate salwar pants were seen in Tarun Tahiliani's Autumn Winter Collection at Wills India Fashion Week 2014 ramp. Shilpa Shetty along with Dhishkiyaon co-stars, Harman Baweja and Ayesha Khanna were the showstoppers at Tarun's opening show.

Dressed in monochrome prints, hand sewn appliques and cherry blossoms, models showcased the metallic shimmer and glitter on the ramp. Silk skirts, crop tops, colourful striped prints, sheer blouses and flowy designs looked nice. Prints, sheer usage and so much high-glam rebellion, sequinned embroidery, glitter were seen in Rina Dhaka's Autumn Winter collection which went well with the modern, classic and contemporary silhouettes. Tussar, wool, metallic weaves and satin were seen in her collection.

Designer Vineet Bahl's collection is titled ‘Utsav' and it literally symbolizes the passion for life. Vineet Bahl's WIFW 2014 collection is about celebrating life and every aspect of its existence. It leaves us the message that life is beautiful and happiness lies in enjoying its beauty today instead of thinking about the future.

The bling which was seen in Kiran Uttam Ghosh designs complemented his work all the more. What was extraordinary was the combination of sheer, georgette, nets and jerseys fabrics the designer Kiran Uttam Ghosh has used for each of his pieces. On the ramp, apart from bronze, there was a combination of aquamarine, black and gold, shades of purple and deep reds, thus adding to the beauty on the ramp at the Wills India Fashion Week 2014.

Raakesh Agarvwal Autumn Winter collection showcased at Day 1 of Wills India Fashion Week 2014 ramp was sassy and bold. Raakesh Agarvwal showed some S&M inspired creations on the WIFW AW 2014 which set fire on the ramp. The collection redefines the feminine power and ultimate lustrous sophisticate. Raakesh's mastery in accessories like spike high boots, thigh high boots, erratic chains, and bold neck braces described bandage to perfection!

The designer, Shantanu & Nikhil brought to life on the ramp the yester years of patterns. An elegant combination of pink and cream was a perfect conflict of colours that were showcased. The main center of attraction was the perfect combination of Western and Eastern attires. From layered frilled gowns, knee length dresses, jumpsuits and then Eastern apparels of kurtas, anarkallis and kaftans. Shantanu & Nikhil also portrayed a special line of collection for the men.

Prints, sheer usage and so much high-glam rebellion, sequinned embroidery, glitter were seen in Rina Dhaka's Autumn Winter collection which went well with the modern, classic and contemporary silhouettes. Tussar, wool, metallic weaves and satin were seen in her collection. Bob cut, tassels, sexy heels, glamour and style made Rina Dhaka's collection look breathtakingly gorgeous and fashionable.
