Konkona Sen Sharma Walks For Anavila: LFW 2014

Day 3 of LFW 2014 is celebrated as Indian Textile Day at the fashion festival. So today, all the designers who work with Indian ethnic textiles will be showcasing their work. That is why, it is no surprise that Anavila Mishra was at LFW 2014 displaying her lovely collection. But what is even more amazing is that Konkona Sen Sharma walked the LFW 2014 ramp for Anavila today.

Konkona was dressed in a mustard yellow silk saree. The mettalic weaves of the saree were very evident. Every saree in Anavila's LFW 2014 collection was handwoven as is this one. This plain silk saree was draped like a dhotti with uneven pleats for Konkona. The Bengali beauty looked really graceful in this saree that was teamed up with a short sleeved blouse. Konkona Sen Sharma's LFW 2014 look was completed with a bronze coin neckpiece and a round bindi drawn with chandan (sandalwood paste).

The rest of the collection comprised saree only. The silks were rich and handwoven. The sarees were draped in different types over mul tops. The russets and gold hues of this collection recreated the magic of ancient clothing. The title of this collection is 'Mohenjo-daro'. Anavila's weaves take us back ages to the ancient Indian civilization that was called the land of the rising sun. She gives us golden hues from the Barley fields of that ancient agrarian society, the play of golden sunshine in the fields and the earthy scents of the mud houses.

The most striking feature of these silk weaves is their plainness. Most of the drapes are plain or checked. There is no embroidery or zari work on the sarees, making it look very elegant. The short pallu style is here stay and it was established again today. We love the way Anavila Mishra has presented her ethnic collection and dressed Konkona Sen Sharma for LFW 2014.
