ICW 2014: Manish Arora’s ‘Light Fantastic’

Manish Arora is the creator and proprietor of the brand ‘Indian'. This brand is surprisingly popular among Westerners due to its colourful presence. Manish Arora regularly presents his creations at the Paris Fashion Week. He is one designer who does not bring out too many collections in a year. Manish Arora collection for ICW 2014 will be his first one this year. So the excitement surrounding this collection was understandable.

At the India Couture Week 2014, Manish Arora presented a collection that was colourful to say the least. Calling this collection which is titled ‘Light Fantastic' colourful is an understatement. As the models walked down the ramp, we got the feeling of looking through the eye piece of a kaleidoscope. The textures and colours merged together to form a massive and mesmerizing optical illusion.

There were so many different colours in this collection that it was hard to focus on a particular colour palate. However, there was a distinct dominance of emerald green and peacock blue in the collection. It seems that some of the outfits are inspired from the ‘peacock'. Another interesting aspect of the collection was the headgears. There were so many different types of headgears in this collection.

Some of the headgears looked like an amalgamation of cheerleaders pom-poms. Some of the headgear covered the model's faces. These fringe headgears looked like they had come out of the collection of some Egyptian queen. There were also floral earmuffs that added to the effect created by geometrical patterns.

Another interesting effect created by the collection was the use of sheer bodices to enhance the look of the exquisitely embroidered skirt. These floor-length lehenga skirts from Manish Arora's ICW 2014 collection will surely become the flavor of the season.
