Hollywood Actors Who Are Australians

Most of us imagine that Hollywood is the sole forte of the Americans. However, Hollywood and its celebrities are just as cosmopolitan as our very own Bollywood celebs. Mumbai and it film industry draws people from all religions, languages and colour. Similarly, Hollywood draws its actors from all over the world. As English is a universal language, the variety of Hollywood actors is limitless.

One of the major English speaking countries in world after USA and Britain is Australia. That is why, the number of Australian actors in Hollywood is very large. Many actors of Australian origin have made it really big in Hollywood.

One of the most pertinent examples of Australian celebrities in Hollywood is Nicole Kidman. She came to Hollywood 19 years back as a struggling stage actress. She later married (and divorced) Tom Cruise, an America actor. Hugh Jackman is another famous Australian actor who is in fact called the ‘Boy from Oz' after his first musical film in Hollywood.

So, here are some of the other big names of Australian actors who rule in Hollywood.

Nicole Kidman

Moulin Rouge, The Hours, Amelia are the few movies in the list of Nicole Kidman. She has won the Oscars for her great performances more than once. She appeared in a film named after her home country with co-actor Hugh Jackman.

Hugh Jackman

Hugh Jackman rose to fame after his spellbinding performance in the Broadway Musical, ‘The Boy From Oz'. He is also famous as one of the most favourite X-Men characters, ‘The Wolverine'.

Russell Crowe

Did you know that Mr. Handsome Gladiator came from? Russell Crowe is easily one of the most powerful actors in Hollywood and he hails from Australia.

Eric Bana

When we talk of the tall, dark and handsome Eric Bana, we can remember Hector, the Trojan Prince, the enigmatic Time Traveller and also the flamboyant British king, Henry VIII.

Cate Blanchett

Cate Blanchett is no-less regal among actors from Australia. After all, she has played the role of Queen Elizabeth Tudor. She is also recognised for her performances in The Aviator and The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button.

Heath Ledger

A drug overdose took away this legendary actor from us too soon. But we can never forget the Joker and famous love story between two men in ‘Brokeback Mountain'.

Naomi Watts

She is one of the prettiest actresses to grace the silver screen. Her beauty has even enchanted the beastly King Kong1.

Ben Mendelsohn

The devilishly handsome villain from the Dark Knight Rises has played some interesting negative roles. He is just so good as a bad guy that we feel like you could switch sides!

David Wenham

Those biceps and triceps are a reminiscent of his role in the herculean movie 300. He may not have been able to steal the show from Gerard Butler in 300 but he definitely had a significant role to play.

Toni Collette

How can we forget Little Miss Sunshine who won our hearts with her lovely smile and her sun kissed skin. This talented Australian actress also did a commendable job in The Sixth Sense.

Rose Byrne

Rose Byrne has all the elements of Hollywood superstar. She is beautiful, hot and knows how to act. She was noticed even in a small role in X-Men first class.

Mia Wasikowska

The famous Alice is not from Wonderland; but Australia. Mia is actually Polish by descent but she was born and brought up in Australia.
