Gaurang Shah' New Saree Collection GULAAL

Award winning self taught designer Gaurang Shah from Hyderabad is bringing together, Mira Sagar from Mumbai and bai lou studio of Kolkata to showcase a limited edition of exquisite Indian Weaves luxury collections in New Delhi themed as ‘GULAAL'.

These Emerging and independent textile designers from the South, West and East are known for using organic textiles, natural fibers, vintage detailing, and sleek tailoring.

"I'm showcasing a vibrant collection of my jamdani weaves that took months for me and my weavers to create," Gaurang says. With GULAAL I hope we will be able to get connected here, and that's one of the things I love about New Delhi which loves newness in fashion." Gaurang will showcase his traditional Indian weaves of jamdani through his Uppadas, Kotas, Organzas and the like along with his unique collection of kanjeevaram sarees. Gaurang works and encourages more than 500 weavers across India to bring life into his sari collections.

"GULAAL is a collaborative effort by these designers to highlight a complete twist in Indian Weaves to buyers and editors in New Delhi. It is a collaborative world -- in the age of sustainability we thought to show Indian Textile Designs under one umbrella called GULAAL which will pave way for the growth of Indian Weaves in Fashion." Gaurang adds.

"I think such convergence of designers has immense potential for a lot more creativity and appeal." Mira Sagar of Vaya says. Mira known for transforming the look of Maheshwari Sarees will showcase her newest designs in Candy pink and fluorescent pista green, imbibing fresh and new textures like netted range of stripes.

"GULAAL is a good way to showcase the integrity in Indian weaves, and I'm excited to be a part of this show" designer Duo Rumi and Bappaditya of Bai-lou studio said. "Abir saris, the swadeshi fabric inspired from the thick cottons woven during the satyagraha movement in whites and in various textures with patterns of black and white printed for the hot summers will be among the collections shown by us in GULAAL" the duo added.

The designers expect this display will also raise awareness and popularize traditional indian textiles. It's handwoven, exceptional, and enduring which ages with the owners and sometimes even outlives them.
