Vidya Balan's sangeet ceremony was a quiet but happy affair. The bride-to-be looked radiant and was all smiles to the camera. Vidya is Tamil but fiance Siddharth Roy Kapoor is a Punjabi. So, Vidya Balan's wedding was supposed to be a mix of two different cultural traditions. The wedding ceremony will happen in the South Indian style in a temple. But Vidya Balan's sangeet was a proper Punjabi affair.
The mix of cultures did not stop at that. The way Vidya Balan dressed for her Sangeet was distinctly Bengali. We already know about Vidya's affinity for Benagli films and also her weakness Bengali fashion designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee's sarees. But, her Bong look for the sangeet ceremony was a total surprise. Vidya draped the yellow and red saree designed by Sabyasachi Mukherjee in the Bengali style.
Vidya Balan's sangeet jewellery was certainly unconventional. It looked like floral jewellery but it was actually encrusted with pearls and red gemstones. The highlight of the jewellery was the traditional ratan chur; that is, 5 rings on all the fingers and chains connecting them to a bangle. Vidya wore matching dangle earrings. Vidya Balan's special wedding hairstyle was quite simple. She made a loose half pony and left the rest of her hair loose.
The only major celebrity who attended Vidya Balan's wedding sangeet was the eternal beauty Rekha. She looked vibrant in a light green silk saree with pink coloured borders.
So far, Vidya Balan's wedding trousseau has not really wowed us. Lets hope designer Sabyasachi will surprise with some wonders in the days to come. Here are some of the highlights of Vidya Balan and Siddharth Roy Kapoor's sangeet ceremony.
