Prince William & Kate Middleton 'Waxed'

Prince William and Kate Middleton have been put down in wax at the famous Madame Tussauds Museum. The new royal couple's wax models are the latest addition to a trousseau of royals at this legendary museum. There has been lots of excitement around the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. Probably to tap the mood of the public, their statues have arrived just before their first anniversary.

What Do They Look Like:

Three different versions of these statues have been released. In London, the wax models of Prince William and Kate Middleton (who is now the Duchess of Cambridge), are portrayed in their 'wedding announcement' attire. The royal couple announced their engagement in November 2010 after a courtship of 9 long years. On that eventful day, the Duke of Cambridge was in his traditional black tuxedo. Kate, the would be Princess sported a pure silk midnight blue dress from Issa. The dress and the bridal glow of the Princess has been reproduced in wax, down to the last detail.

The Ring That Asked The Question:

Another interesting feature of the wax statues of Prince William and Kate is the blue sapphire ring. We are obviously talking about the ring that popped the question. It is a heirloom that belonged to the late Princess Diana. Although the ring has been reproduced with admirable accuracy, it is shadowed by a purse that Kate Middleton is holding.

More Of Madame Tussauds:

As mentioned earlier, two other wax versions of Prince William and Kate have been released in Amsterdam and New York respectively. The Prince is uniformly in black and white. But, the fashionable princess appears in Alexander McQueen full-skirted gown in New York. At Amsterdam, she graces her presence with the famous Alice Temperle lace dress.

British Monarchy At Madame Tussauds:

This is not the first time that the British monarchy has been 'waxed' in the museum. Queen Elizabeth herself has been modeled 6 times along with the King and their children. Also, there are the models of the previous royal couple, Prince Charles and Princess Diana. Their younger son, Harry too stands in this museum alongside his parents. However, the oldest wax model of a British royal was created in 1835. King William IV was turned into wax for the opening ceremony of this wax house. It was one of the first wax models at the museum, that is now a part of popular culture. From then till now, Madame Tussauds has cast wax statues of almost every popular figure, both in England and abroad!
