Max Hospital Host Obesity Seminar In Delhi

Max Institute of Minimal Access, Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery will be hosting the XVII World Congress of International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders (IFSO) from 11th to 15th September, 2012 at Taj Palace Hotel. The Congress is being supported by IFSO-Asia Pacific Chapter (IFSO-APC), the Asia Pacific Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Society (APMBSS) and the Obesity and Metabolic Surgery Society of India (OSSI).

Obesity is seen in nearly one third of women and a quarter of the male population in metropolitan cities. The rural and suburban areas are not far behind. Nearly 5 per cent of this population group suffers such extreme obesity that the only treatment option available to them is bariatric surgery.

The IFSO 2012 World Congress is a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary forum where leading national and international experts will conduct a critical review. The idea behind the Congress is to provide a platform to address and debate on the recent advances and challenges in the field of Metabolic and Bariatric surgery. India is now fast reaching the stage of being one of the places where type 2 Diabetes is increasing due to which the driving force behind many surgeons is becoming very interested in bariatric surgical procedures.

To meet the increasing demand for surgical management of morbid obesity, many health care organizations are coming up with dedicated bariatric surgical centers. All bariatric surgical centers follow certain guidelines and ruling principles that are laid down by experts from over the world who come together every year to discuss and strategize the future of bariatric surgeries and share their research findings.
