Can anything be a secret in Bollywood? Oh yes, their weddings! Secret marriages have been a some what subversive trend in Bollywood ever since the black and white era. It is next to impossible for celebrity marriages to be hush hush but B'town has held on to its privacy. Many stars got married without media coverage, in fact without any hint to anybody that they were married. Bollywood movies get all the publicity in the world, Bollywood marriages (at least some of them) prefer to keep things under cover.

1. Shammi Kapoor & Geeta Bali: Let us begin with the couple who started the trend of secret weddings. The Junglee star out of fear of his strict disciplinarian father (Prithviraj Kapoor) married his lady love Geeta Bali (his co-star of many movies) secretly. The ceremony took place at a Mumbai temple at 4 am in the morning and the families came to know much later!

2. Hema Malini & Dharamendra: It is probably the most controversial secret marriage in history. The much married Dharamendra eloped to Khandala (a hill station near Mumbai) with his 'Dream girl' Hema Malini. They married in a traditional Tamil ceremony but Dharamenra's previous marriage was not annulled. This celebrity marriage created an uproar in the media but only after it was already over and done with. The cause of secrecy in this case was quite crystal clear.
