Top 5 Craziest Publicity Stunts!
Publicity stunt is something that celebrities are adept at pulling. However, there is a class and finesse about doing it even if you are trying to grab eyeballs. You will see reclusive actors appear on silly reality shows to promote their films or certain stars who give interviews only when their movie is about to release; all that is acceptable. However, there are certain crazy celebrity stunts that are unforgettable and unforgivable.

Marketing techniques or craze for stardom, here are some publicity stunts that crossed the line.

Top 5 Crazy Publicity Stunts:

1. Sayali Bhagat's Molestation Accusations: It's at the top because its fresh and pretty ridiculous. This (what was her name) starlet has literally accused the who's who of Bollywood of molestation and physical harassment. Her allegation that Amitabh Bachchan felt her up when she touched his feet as a mark of respect, just takes the cake. The others accused by this former Miss India are Emraan Hashmi (co actor from her sole movie, you have heard about 'Train'), Arya Babber, Sajid Khan and Shiney Ahuja.

2. Preeti Jain Accuses Madhur Bhandarkar Of Rape: Not once, not twice but 17 times! That is the number of times Madhur Bhandarkar apparently raped starlet Preeti Jain. This crazy publicity stunt by this aspiring actress actually got the filmmaker known for his off beat films arrested. But as the blame game continued and the issues of the casting couch were discussed, the issue at hand fizzled out slowly. Rape can hardly happen 17 times.

3. Rakhi Sawant And Her Public Break Ups: This crazy celebrity is the queen of media stunts. She should actually open an university for unscrupulous marketing techniques when she retires from public life. Rakhi Sawant publicly broke up with one time boyfriend dancer Abhishek. He in turn invited the media to Rakhi's flat to telecast the making up (that included Rakhi slapping him several times). Rakhi Sawant also broke up with her fiancee Eleesh (winner of reality show Swayamvar) but not without a public spectacle.

4. Dolly Bindra Fights In Bigg Boss: Verbal abuse took on a new meaning when the cute rolly polly looking Dolly Bindra fought like a crazy woman with everybody in the reality show Bigg Boss. The audience having seen her in comic roles before was stunned and she was brought back into the show (after being eliminated) to keep up the soaring TRPs!

5. Jade Goody: This crazy celebrity who has risen from reality shows is famous for so many cheap stunts that when she was actually diagnosed with cancer on Indian reality show Bigg Boss, people thought that too was a stunt. Well it wasn't but her death and funeral plans were telecast live on television. Should we blame the demised star or her insensitive public relations team?

These were the 5 craziest publicity stunts that happened in India.

Rape can happen 17 times but not in the situation that is being described in this article. If we are talking about the casting couch and the evils of it then that is a separate issue. Rape is a violent attack on an individuals self respect. It is sad and ridiculous that a woman should make a spoof out of it. She was not kidnapped, she chose allow it for an ulterior motif. If you still find it offensive, we are sorry.

Keep aside Preeti Jain's fake allegations for now. But the writer says rape can't happen 17 times. Does the writer know anything about how different rape can be in different contexts and situations? Rape is not just a sole, violent attack. In some cases a rapist can terrorize his victim over months and years - and sometimes physical force is not even needed - psychological dominance and twisted mind games keep the victim under his thumb. This a light article, but please do some basic research.

Of course we won't be ashamed to post the opinions of our readers. Your opinion is valuable to us. We agree that this is not serious content but all content cannot be serious. They are 'stunts', they are not based on facts but joking around for publicity indeed. We have merely covered it as a trend in society. Sorry if offends you
