Oprah Winfrey Way In Chicago

One of the Diva of Talk Shows, Oprah Winfrey, now has a street named in her honour in Chicago. “It is really just a full-circle miracle story that a little colored girl born in Kosciusko, Mississippi, on a red dirt road ends up with my name on a street in the greatest city in the world, Chicago. So, thank you! That"s better than an Oscar or an Emmy," says an humbles Oprah Winfrey.

The street named after Oprah Winfrey is the 100th block North Carpenter Avenue in Chicago called the 'Oprah Winfrey Way'. This is the same street where her chat show is aired. Oprah Winfrey was in the city for an audition to host the AM Chicago, TV show. She revealed this as she addressed the crowd outside the Harpo Studios. To Oprah Winfrey, Chicago is the greatest city of the word, as it is here she tasted success.

Mayor Richard Daley, while introducing the street – Oprah Winfrey Way, said, “There isn"t enough time or adequate words that can describe what your 25-year journey has meant to Chicago. Your presence in Chicago has been a gift over two decades. The Oprah Winfrey Show has drawn worldwide attention to our city and an instinctive energy from it."

From the rack to the richest and to the successful, Oprah Winfrey has seen it all and hopes to excell to greater highest.
