Should You Clean Vegetables With Vinegar

Vinegar & Water
When washing vegetables, you can consider using this solution. This helps you keep the vegetables clean and free from the germs induced by pesticides and insecticides. You need to combine vinegar in water in 1:3 ratio. Make sure you combine these two in a spray bottle. Shake the bottle well to ensure both the things are nicely mixed. Now spray it on the vegetables using this bottle, and allow the mixture to stay on the vegetables for 30 seconds before keeping it under cold running water. Your vegetables are clean, and the taste of vinegar is no longer present on it.

Soak in Vinegar Solution
When you are attempting to clean vegetables having a hard surface, you cannot clean them by just spraying the liquid mixture. You will need to soak the vegetables in this mixture of vinegar and water. The same ratio can be considered. Vegetables like cauliflower, broccoli etc. are cleaned in this manner. After some half hour, you can rinse the vegetables with cold water. Scrubbing it with a brush will also remove the dirt and other germs from these vegetables.

Fruits in Vinegar
Washing fruits before you consume them is always a good habit. Fruits that are made available to you from a fruit seller or the like contains bacteria in them. You would not want to lunch or dine on bacteria. The best way to make sure your fruits are good and hygienic is to ensure that they are clean. Washing them in vinegar solution always serves the purpose. You not just keep them clean but also make sure that they don’t get spoiled in this way.

Shopping for Good Vegetables
Remember your vinegar solution makes a difference only when you choose the best vegetables and fruits. When shopping for vegetables make sure you don’t choose a variety that is not good, or is insufficiently kept. Undamaged is the word that you need to remember when you are choosing the vegetables. When you are buying cut vegetables you need to make sure they are recently cut and washed. Else you would be buying rotten vegetables.
