Slugs grow very fast and some of them can even shoot up to 10 inches. One single slug can make around 36 eggs more than a few times per year. Within 6 weeks they turn into adults and there are also a few species that can survive for two to six years. 1. Epson Salt
Sprinkling Epson salt on top of the soil helps prevent slugs and also averts the deficiency of Magnesium in your foliage.
2. Vinegar
While making a slug spray add some vinegar to it. Vinegar helps to remove the slime from the slugs.
3. Salt
Scatter salt all around your garden plants. Slugs avoid going near the salt because it dries them. This is one of the most effective tips to get rid of slugs from garden.
4. Petroleum Jelly
If you see the slugs attacking your potted plants, apply some petroleum jelly just about the top and bottom of your pots and observe the slugs skidding.
5. Ammonia And Water
This is one of the numerous tips to get rid of slugs from garden. Take ammonia and water in 1:3 ratio and spray it on the slugs to make them lifeless.
6. Hair
Scatter some dog, human or even cat hair all over your plants. Slugs do not go on hairs and it will also help you ward off the other pests.
7. Grapefruit
Slugs love grapefruit and hence it proves to be one of the most useful tips to get rid of slugs from garden. Keep a half grapefruit in your garden. It will act as a slug trap. Make a few holes on the grapefruit and flip it. Slugs will enter the grapefruit through the holes and assemble there to eat it. Now pick up the grapefruit and throw it in the bin.
8. Beer
Slugs adore beer. Take a bowl and fill it will beer, keep it in your garden for overnight. Next day dispose of the bowl full of slugs.
9. Garlic And Mint
Slugs hate the smell of garlic and mint, hence planting these plants around the boundary of your garden will help you to keep them at bay.
10. Essential Oils
Apart from the healing properties, the essential oils can also enlighten you about how to prevent slugs from garden. Take half teaspoon of hyssop essential oil, half teaspoon of cedar wood essential oil and about half teaspoon of pine essential oil. Take a spray bottle and pour about 1 cup of water into it. Now add all the oils into the water and shake the bottle thoroughly. Spray this mixture over the slugs and around your favorite plants to ward off the slugs.
