India is known for its art forms and Rangoli is one of India's most colorful art form. Rang means "Color" and Aavalli means "row of colors". Rangoli Types For Traditional Home -

1.Kolam is an artistic pattern practiced in Tamil Nadu and is usually drawn with rice powder. The aesthetic art has more meaning to it in Tamil Nadu, it is believed that the art form when drawn in the entrance of the house is said to bring peace and prosperity to the family. The rice bits are used so that the birds and insects can feed on signifying the love for living creatures. It is also believed that the symmetric patterns prevent undesirable elements entering the house.

2.Aripana art is practiced in Bihar. This art form is illustrated in the form of linear drawings on the floor of the house. Aripana is drawn on auspicious occasions in and around the house.

3.Alpana is a design form practiced in Bengal and is usually drawn by the woman folk for ceremonial & religious purposes. Today, the art form is combined with modern designs and has been very popular in the region.

4.Aipan is an Uttaranchal traditional form which is socially, culturally and religiously significant in the region. The art form is drawn at the places of worship on both the entrance and the front courtyard of the house.
