World Haemophilia Day; Precautionary Measures Every Haemophiliac Needs To Take
Haemophilia can be prevented from getting worse with certain preventive measures. A few of the precautionary steps are listed here.
There are plenty of health problems that human beings get afflicted with. Among all of these there are certain health issues that a person acquires genetically which are not controllable. Despite several preventive steps and following a healthy lifestyle the disease gets transmitted from the parents to the kids.
Since there is no total cure for the disease, the only way out is to take certain preventive steps so that the condition does not get worse. So today in this article we will be listing out a few of the useful precautionary measures that haemophiliacs need to take. Also if you want to know the causes and symptoms for haemophilia then click here.
Haemophilia is a genetically transmitted disease. A person suffering from haemophilia cannot produce a particular component that is responsible for the clotting of blood and this causes excessive bleeding which sometimes turns fatal as well.
So how can we stop such bleeding among haemophiliacs? Taking a few precautionary measures like avoiding certain drugs that cause blood thinning or taking up certain light exercises can help. Following a few of these precautionary measures can help haemophiliacs to lead a normal life.
Listed here are a few of the precautionary measures that every haemophiliac needs to take. Take a look.
1. Regular Exercise:
It might be a general notion that haemophiliacs should shun exercises. But this is completely wrong. Slight exercises like stretching, swimming, walking or playing badminton actually help in strengthening their muscles and keeping them fit.
2. Avoid Risky Sports:
Haemophiliacs should also keep in mind that they should stay away from sports like football and boxing. This strains them and can cause internal or external bleeding at times. Sometimes this might turn fatal as well.
3. Avoid Drugs That Cause Blood Thinning:
Those suffering from haemophilia need to be extra cautious about what medicine they take. Pain relievers that are available over the counters can lead to blood thinning and this might be dangerous. Drugs, especially that cause blood thinning should be avoided by haemophiliacs.
4. Dental Hygiene:
Those suffering from haemophilia need to be extra careful about their dental hygiene. In case they have bleeding gums, it is always better to consult a specialist who is an expert in treating haemophilia cases.
5. Travel Tips:
It is very important for haemophiliacs to plan and take needed precautions before they travel. It is essential to carry the emergency medications required. Check out for the haemophiliac clinics located nearby and make it a point to note their contact number and keep it handy.
6. Get Immediate Medical Care:
It is always important to get the needed medical care as soon as possible in case a patient starts bleeding. Even if it is a minor cut, they need to check it immediately. If left unchecked, this might turn fatal at times.
