Foods You Should Avoid On An Empty Stomach
Food eaten at the correct time does bring a lot of benefits for one's health. But on the contrary the same food if eaten at the wrong time can cause a lot of harm to the body.
So you should be watchful about what you eat and when you eat. There are certain foods which you should avoid eating on an empty stomach in order to prevent any kind of health hazards.

Sometimes when we are hungry, we do not care and whatever food is available we tend to gulp in. Even though we might be aware that certain foods are bad for our health, still we eat those foods. When one feels hungry, majority of us do not think, we just eat in order to satisfy our hunger.

When we crazily hog on these foods on an empty stomach without realizing its consequences, it might lead to several health problems like stomach pain, acidity, etc. If not taken care of on time it might lead to other serious issues like stomach ulcer, increase in blood sugar level and heart burn as well.
Here is a list of foods which should be avoided on an empty stomach. Take a look.
1. Sugar:
When you eat a lot of sugar or sugar containing food items, the body will not be able to produce enough insulin in that short period of time to maintain the level of blood sugar. This will give rise to sudden increase in blood sugar level.
2. Tomato:
Tomato is one of the good food ingredients but when consumed on an empty stomach it creates serious health problems. The acids in the tomato react with the gastrointestinal acids in the stomach if consumed on an empty stomach and this adds to the formation of stones in the stomach.
3. Spicy Food:
Spicy foods are a strict no on an empty stomach. When consumed on an empty stomach, the spicy food causes acidic reaction and stomach pain.
4.Banana:
Banana is one of the best fruits but it should not be consumed on an empty stomach. It will increase the magnesium level and this will react with the calcium in the blood and affect the balance causing problem.
5. Sweet Potato:
Sweet potatoes should not be consumed on an empty stomach. The tannin and pectic components in sweet potatoes stimulate the stomach wall and this will aid in production of more gastric acid leading to gastric problem and heartburn.
6. Soda:
The artificial colour and flavour along with the carbonated acid content in soda is extremely harmful for the body when consumed on an empty stomach. When the soda gets mixed with the stomach acids it causes serious health issues.
7. Alcohol:
Few people drink alcohol on an empty stomach to get intoxicated but they do not realize its consequences. Drinking alcohol on an empty stomach causes burning in the lining of the intestine.
8. Yogurt:
Yogurt is good for health but it should not be consumed on an empty stomach. Yogurt contains good bacteria, and when consumed on an empty stomach reacts with the juices present in the stomach lining and causes stomach problem.
