5 Foods You Should Avoid Consuming While Dealing With Cold
If you have cold, then there are certain foods that you need to avoid.
It is the time of the month when you are constantly dealing with cold and runny rose. While there are lots and lots of home remedies that help to battle cold, there are few food products that can make your experience a worst one.
It's harmful to consume these food stuffs while dealing with cold because it affects your immune system and can lead to other problems.
Here are different foods that affect ailments like cold and runny nose even more, so it is ideal to avoid these. Have a look.
1. Juice Or Other Drinks
When you are dealing with cold and runny nose, you should never ever drink juices and other drinks. If you crave for orange, pineapple or such other juices, make sure that you are not going to re-cover cold ever. Drinking juice will restrain your body from recovering from cold, fever or runny nose. Because juices are loaded with sugar, it reduces the ability of white blood cells to fight against the illness. Although juice contains a high amount of Vitamin C, it gets nullified due to the sugar content.
2. Fast And Processed Food
If you think consuming processed and junk food can help to recover from cold and cough than you are wrong. Fast food and processed food do not contain any nutritional value in them, but they lower down the capacity of the body and immune system to fight against the viral disease. Processed food and fast food contain high fructose corn syrup, aspartame, MSG, artificial colors, FD&C Red #40, dimethylpolysiloxane, and much more.
3. Fried Foods
Stay away from fried foods as much as you can, as it can help to make you feel even more sick. While you are sick, you should stay away from excess fatty foods, as it may lower the immunity of the body. Due to a high amount of fats in the fast and fried food, it may lead to inflammation in a person. As inflammation takes over the body due to the calorie density of fried foods, it can do a lot of harm to the body.
4. Alcohol
Alcohol is the worst kind of drink you can take while struggling from cold. Drinking alcohol during cold is the worst idea, as it can adversely affect the body by causing dehydration. However, some say alcohol can help to deal with serious cold but one among the disadvantages of drinking alcohol is, it may dehydrate the body and also lower the immunity power of the body. While dealing with cold, you need to keep your body hydrated and drinking alcohol is certainly not the only idea to deal with it.
5. Acidic And Spicy Food
While struggling with cold, your stomach is irritated all the time and hence you need to be very cautious with the food that you eat. Spicy food can perk up your nostrils and allow the cold to flow off the nose but the disadvantage lies in the effect that spicy food has on your stomach. Mucous membranes may become sensitive and the linings or walls of the stomach could react adversely to both acidic and spicy foods. Hence, it is always a good idea to keep acidic food and spicy food away from your list.
So, the next time when you are dealing with cold, avoid consuming these food products.
