Despite the fact that there are over four hundred kinds of anaemia, most are rare with only around a dozen being regularly seen. Medically speaking, anaemia is not an illness on its own, but instead a symptom of other illnesses. Anaemia is defined as the condition that develops when the blood does not contain enough healthful red blood cells.

It is a condition where the blood does not receive adequate oxygen throughout the red blood cells. Adolescents, pregnant females and older individuals have the highest risk of developing anaemia.

causes of anaemia

Anaemia is caused due to loss of blood, reduced or structural red blood cell creation or the destruction of red blood cells in the blood. Anaemia due to blood loss can happen with time and is generally very mild to start with.

As the blood loss carries on or reoccurs and the anaemia is not treated, the anaemia becomes more serious and the signs might become more apparent.

Ulcers, specific types of cancer and the irritation of the stomach known as gastritis may cause anaemia and might go undetected for a fairly long time before being diagnosed. The anti-inflammatory drugs, like aspirin and ibuprofen, may also lead to anaemia from overuse or susceptibility to such products.

Lastly, excessive menstruation and loss of blood from childbirth are accountable for causing anaemia in several cases. The only treatment for this kind of anaemia is to reduce or get rid of the main cause of anaemia as much as possible.

The most typical forms of anaemia due to reduced or structural red blood cell creation are sickle cell, iron deficiency and vitamin deficiency. Currently there is no remedy for sickle cell anaemia, but treatment plans can be found and are getting more beneficial everyday. Iron deficiency is the most typical type of anaemia and the one many individuals speak about when they mention anaemia.

This causes all kinds of problems for the anaemic person including fatigue, paleness, rapid heart beat, trouble concentrating or remembering, difficulty in breathing, headaches and even nosebleeds.
