The acids secreted by the body generally help in the digestive process by breaking down the foods one consumes. But when the body produces excess acid, it leads to acidity. This gives rise to a kind of burning sensation in the stomach which is accompanied by pain. It further leads to heart burn as well.

Initially one might just ignore it thinking it to be some minor problem but if not taken care of on time, it might turn into stomach ulcer and later cancer as well. Hence, one needs to be very careful and watch out for the symptoms of acidity.
