Epilepsy, commonly known as fits, is a neurological disorder in which there is a sudden loss of consciousness.

This condition could last anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes. Epilepsy occurs because the brain sends excessive electric impulses leading to fits.

These fits could be of different types such as excessive shaking of limbs, total blackout, memory loss, slow body functions, accidental discharge of urine, etc.

Boil 5 garlic cloves in a mixture of milk and water (1/2 cup each). Boil till the mixture reduces to half the size. Drinking this mixture regularly will help in preventing fits.

There are various herbs recommended in Ayurveda for treating fits. Brahmi is one such herb. Ayurveda recommends using Brahmi in the case of fits.

Usage
A patient suffering from fits should consume about 5-6 Brahmi leaves every day. He/she should also consume a glass of warm milk followed by it. Doing so regularly will slowly help in easing and curing the occurrence of seizures.

Tulsi
Commonly found around Indian homes, tulsi is one of the holiest plants according to the Hindu mythology. It is also known as Holy basil. It strengthens the brain and also helps in reducing stress greatly.

Usage
Chewing a bunch full of tulsi leaves every day, or drinking a teaspoon of tulsi juice can help in balancing the neurones of the brain and thereby help in reducing seizures.

Ash Gourd
Popularly known as winter melon, safed kaddu or petha, ash gourd is mentioned in 'Charaka Samhita' (Ayurvedic texts) for its various medicinal properties. It is also very effective in treating neurological disorders such as insanity, paranoia or seizures. It also ensures the proper functioning of the brain cells.

Usage
Squeeze half a cup of juice out of ash gourd by grating it. Drinking the juice first thing in the morning will help in curing seizures.

Coconut Oil
Coconut oil is a very potent remedy in treating fits and seizures. It provides energy to the brain neurones and has a therapeutic effect on the brain waves. The fatty acids present in coconut help in easing the effects of epilepsy.

Consume a teaspoon of pure coconut oil few times in a day and you could also prepare your food using some coconut oil or use it to garnish your salads.
