Just Like Other Parts Of Your Body, Your Brain Too Needs These 8 Superfoods To Excel
Just like other parts of our body, our brain too needs certain foods to improve its functioning. Here are 8 superfoods that help our brain’s health.
Like every other part of our body, it is also important to take care of our brain. As our body ages, the brain also gets older and hence it is absolutely essential for us to take care of the brain's health through an effective diet.
Eating healthy foods and drinking the right amount of fluids can help our brain remain strong even at an older age.
Here we discuss 8 superfoods that really help in giving us a healthy brain:
1. Breakfast Having Fruits, Dairy Products, Etc:
This is the most basic rule to have a good brain. Breakfast is the first fuel supply to our body and brain; and if you have a habit of overlooking or delaying breakfast because of a lifestyle which defies the biological clock, then you are doing enough damage to your brain. Next comes the important point of what you are choosing to eat for breakfast. Whole grains, fruits, dairy products, etc., are ideal breakfast items and not high-calorie and junk foods.
2. Fish:
The omega-3 fatty acids in fish are amazingly helpful for our brain's health. The more fish you consume, the lesser the chances of yourself getting affected by problems like dementia, stroke or bad memory power. Have two servings of fish in a week at least.
3. Sweet:
Sugar is generally considered unhealthy for our body but for the brain, sweet is good, as it gives a boost to the memory and thinking power. But, be very careful while eating or drinking something sweet, as going overboard can make you gain extra kilos.
4. Caffeine:
Caffeine energises us and improves our ability to concentrate. Caffeine is found in coffee, energy drinks, chocolate, etc., and it can give the brain a much-needed boost. But don't indulge in too much of caffeine, as it can make you less comfortable.
5. Blueberries:
Blueberries are very healthy for the brain, as they not only protect it against free radicals but also reduce age-related ailments like Alzheimer's disease. Blueberries also improve the learning capacity in adults.
6. Go Nuts:
More intake of nuts and seeds that have antioxidants, vitamin E, etc., lead to better cognitive ability, even as we grow older. An ounce of nuts daily can boost your brain and there is virtually little calorie, fat or sugar in them.
7. Whole Grains:
A diet having a high whole-grain content improves the blood flow, empowering the brain in the process.
8. Avocados:
These healthy fruits also help in improving the blood flow and prove to be great for both the heart and brain.
Besides these specific ones, have enough brain-boosting vitamins, minerals like magnesium and herbs, and take care of things like sleeping, drinking water and meditation. Your brain will certainly function in a better way at an older age.
