Depression is a term to be described mental, but do you know that food consumption habits are also responsible for this hazardous stuff? There is a wide range of food items which uplifts and encourages the depression.In this context, it's shocking to hear about a couple of fruits that cause depression. Though we are always well aware of its health benefits, there is another side too. We need to explore them and implement in controlling stress and possible depression.
Apart from these, we also have foods that cause depression as a reason to worry. Depression is a growing disease and serious concern for the current generation- hence we need to adopt proper remedies. Let's put a look on these food items closely and develop a self awareness to eradicate depression.
Fructose
Fructose is a sugar that occurs in varying degrees in fruit, while Fructan (chains of fructose molecules) occurs in some vegetables and also in wheat. About 30-35 per cent of population suffering from fructose mal-absorption may face serious issues like bloating & stomach ache, fatigue, confusion, depression and anxiety- if fructose consumption is on higher level. The fructose particles are unable to break through and passes unchanged to large intestine creating havoc.
Apples
The fruits are usually high in fructose and should be consumed in accurate proportion. Most effective of them are apples, pears, guava, melon and watermelon, quince, papaya, lychees etc.
Fruit Juices
Fruits that cause depression and agitation also includes foods like sugar-cane, dried fruits, dried fruit bars, fruit juices, fruit concentrate syrups, fruit sauces and chutneys (including tomato and BBQ sauce).
Sugar
People who suffers from depression are especially vulnerable to sugar's evil power. Eating lots of sugar gives you sudden peaks & rise in the blood glucose level resulting in irritation, dizziness, digestive disturbances and depression. Asparagus
Even there are vegetables that are high in fructose level which might enhance the disturbance level. Vegetables like onions, including spring onions and shallots, leeks, asparagus, artichokes, jerusalem artichokes, chicory, radicchio, and endives.
Bread
Foods that can cause depression are rich sources of carbohydrates like grains as well.These include bread, pasta, sauces and cake items.Even the beer brewed from grains aids in lack of concentration and growing misery.Thus we should maintain a diet chart with a proper control over grains.
Dairy Items
Flour Based Products: Dairy items, potatoes and too high consumption of eggs also fall among the list of worries. They pose a constant threat to digestive system similar to fruits that cause depression. It gives birth to pain & gassiness which in turn affects the flow of amino acid Tryptophan- a precursor of Serotonin.
It is an essential hormone regulating mood & sleep. Thus you can logically judge how depression is also linked to food.
Alcohol
Other Foods: It also include honey, coconut cream, corn syrup etc which we should be careful about. Consumption of alcohol also creates slow and permanent depression in mind. Primary among them are fortified wine such as sherry and port- which contains quite high sugar levels.
Caffeinated Drink
Such as coffee, tea, soda, and energy drinks boost you up immediately, but they worsen the state of mind with weapons of depression & anxiety. Too much consumption results in lack of sleep and hence mood swings, mental stress, unnecessary panic is genuine. Also a person who is addicted to caffeine suffers from depression & bad mood while trying to quit.
