Taking A Lot Of Fruit Juice
It is a common saying that have fruit juice if you are sick or if you are tired. Some people keep on drinking it more, thinking it is made of real fruits. While taking juice is good for your health but moderation is the key. Fruit juices contain concentrated added sugars, preservatives and added colours. They also lack fibres, that are abundant in real fruits. Excessive consumption can cause high blood sugar and other health issues.
Not Reading Out Label
Some food companies put alluring words on their products which mostly attracts health conscious people. They labels say "low fat food", "high in omega 3", "low in calories", "sugar-free". Here we can't blame the food companies as it is their marketing strategy. Use your mind and read out the labels carefully and see how your so-called healthy product is laden with all the artificial colours and preservatives.
Not Eating Enough Protein
Another common mistake that health conscious people do is they avoid eggs and meat as they are a rich source of proteins. If you are a vegetarian you can have other sources of proteins such as soya beans, pulses, legumes etc. Not having recommended allowance of proteins, will make you weak and sick. Men need to take 56 grams of protein per day and for women it is 46 grams per day.
Completely Avoid Fats
A new research has shown that natural saturated fats present in coconut oil, butter, red meat when taken in moderation are beneficial for health. They remove bad cholesterol and increases the level of good cholesterol (which removes the bad cholesterol). So you must not completely cut down fats, have a little of them and be healthy in contrast to old belief that fats are unhealthy.
Counting On Calories
One of the common mistake to avoid during dieting is to look for the calories of each and every bite you eat. They go on counting up calories and somehow this makes their life miserable. What matters is from where these calories are coming from. Some foods give you more calories such as foods containing more proteins and healthy fats but don't make you gain weight. These foods make you fit and healthy. Moreover help you to loose weight.
Cutting Down Sodium Completely
Sodium has gained a bad repetition when it comes to heart health and high blood pressure. While it is true also, but you don't have to cut it down completely in your diet as sodium is also essential for the body. It's absence in the body can cause diabetes and high cholesterol level. Also note that 80 percent of salt coming in your body is through fast foods, so avoid them.
Eating Small Frequent Meals
It is not a hard and fast rule that you have to eat small meals in a day to control your weight as you feel less hungry and don't binge on foods. It works well for those whose blood sugar level gets down frequently and for people with hyper-acidity. At the end of the day what counts is how much food you ate. So increase your food intake by having frequent meals.
Eating Too Much Of Healthy Foods
It is common among people that if they come to know that a particular food is healthy, they over-consume it, thinking that it is healthy. Over eating of healthy foods can also cause many health issues. Some examples of healthy foods that are over consumed are nuts, avocado, olive oil, coconut oil, dry fruits etc. Have these healthy foods in moderation in order to avoid their benefits on health.
Relying On Nutritional Supplements
Some health conscious people take more supplements than needed. They should be only taken when your body is in need of them such as nutritional deficiencies and when recovering from an illness. A research shows that unnecessary intake of nutritional supplements causes more harm than good. You should rely on natural sources such having calcium and mineral supplements.
