Why Choose Tissue Over A Handkerchief For Common Cold?
How does it feel when you have a cold? Your nose and ears get blocked. You feel extreme tiredness coupled with a throbbing headache. Cold will take its time to heal, till then one has to decide whether to use tissue or handkerchief for the running nose.
That is quite a dilemma, isn’t it? The choice between tissue and handkerchief has to be made but our rational thinking goes for a toss at such times. We grab the first thing that comes to us. In order to be on the safe side, it is good to be prepared.
When cold strikes, it does not come all of a sudden. You get a few signs that tell you are headed for a cold. This is the time for you to get prepared. It may sound like preparing for a major event, but believe it or not, handling a running nose is rather a difficult thing to do.
15 TIPS FOR INSTANT COUGH RELIEF
In these ‘difficult times’, it is best to use tissue for colds. One may argue that the indiscriminate use of tissues will lead to increase in waste and eventually a burden on Mother Nature. But the use of tissues over handkerchief in times of cold has good enough reasons for you to make the switch. Consider the following.
Hygienic: Hygiene plays an important role when you have to decide whether to use tissues or handkerchiefs during a cold or flu. When we blow our nose into a handkerchief, that piece of cloth becomes infested with germs. Using the same handkerchief repeatedly is only going to keep the germs circulating around you and the chances of getting well soon can be quite delayed.
Easy to carry: How do you carry a handkerchief into which you have blown your nose? Rather difficult to imagine. The germ loaded, soiled and soaked handkerchief can be a pretty disgusting thing to carry. It would be better to carry a pack of tissues, blow your nose into one and chuck it into the waste bin.
Checks spread of virus: When you carry a handkerchief into which you have blown your nose, you are increasing chances of spreading harmful germs. You are ailing from a cold and you can make people close to you susceptible to illness.
Soft on skin: A soft tissue is far more comfortable to the skin than a course cotton hanky. When you are debating whether to choose tissue or handkerchief, you better go for a tissue because it is soft for your nose, which would turn delicate with repeated wiping. It's not that good handkerchiefs are not available. But they can cost you rather a good deal and may require a little too much of maintenance as well.
Multiple uses: Once you use your handkerchief to blow your nose, what other use can you put it to? None. But when you carry a pack full of tissues, you can put each piece of it to whatever use you desire. So, tissue for colds should be the preferred choice.
Easy storage: One pack of tissues has multiple units. And they are so well-packed that you need not bother about storage. But when it comes to handkerchiefs, you will find it difficult to pack in the same number in the same space. Handkerchiefs will take up far more space than tissues.
When debating ‘tissue or handkerchief’, the tissue has many pros going in its favour, especially in times of cold. It is for your good that you carry tissues for colds as it will keep you away from germs and help you recover faster. Also remember to wash your hands after blowing your nose whether you are using tissue or a handkerchief.
