When the ovaries are running low on eggs and the production of hormones has stopped, menopause takes place. Menopause is a natural part of every woman's ageing process. It results in the menstrual cycle stopping and losing the ability to reproduce.

Some of the symptoms of menopause includes hot flashes, excessive sweating, insomnia, mood swings, fatigue and depression. It is merely a function of a woman's biological clock, and you cannot prevent it. But it can be delayed for a long period of time by stretching the biological clock. Plenty of women wonder how they can prevent menopause.

How To Prevent Menopause

Given below are a few ways of preventing menopause.

Weight
One of the best ways to prevent menopause is to regulate your weight. Menopause is known to decrease a woman's metabolism by around 50 to 55 calories per day. You can try to control this fluctuation by reducing the number of calories in your diet or exercising more. Opt for exercises like yoga, running, swimming or aerobics which will be beneficial for your cardiovascular health as well.

Diet
Avoid consuming food items that are known to increase and aggravate menopausal symptoms. These include foods with high level of sugar, white flour, spicy food, caffeine and salt. Instead, opt for a diet rich in whole grain fibre and green leafy vegetables. Make sure to incorporate calcium into your diet and avoid saturated fats. Also make sure there are enough sources of omega-3 fatty acids in your diet.

Smoking
Giving up smoking is the best way to prevent the risk of premature menopause. Quitting smoking also has numerous other health benefits as smoking causes cancer, cardiovascular disease and osteoporosis. The sooner you give up smoking the faster you can reap the health benefits.

Alcohol
Cutting down on your alcohol consumption is an excellent way to prevent menopause from occurring. It will reduce the symptoms of menopause like anxiety or insomnia. Limiting your alcohol intake will offer numerous health benefits to your body and also reduce the loss of calcium from your body.

Stress
Most women around the age where they are about to get menopause have many elements of stress in their daily lives. An excellent way to prevent menopause is to avoid or reduce the stressful factors that surround you. Take care of yourself by sleeping for a good eight hours and taking enough time off for rest and relaxation. Try opting for exercises that simultaneously soothe your mind, body and soul. Go for yoga, meditation or breathing exercises.

These are some of the ways by which you can prevent menopause from taking place or prologue it as much as you possibly can.
