Eat Fruits Before Meals For Better Health

You might have heard a common saying, 'An apple a day keeps the doctor away'. This phrase however do not say when should we have the fruit? This is one of the questions that has left us completely perplexed. It is indeed true that having fruits daily keeps us healthy, but many of us fail to understand that fruits are not meant to be eaten after the meal as it causes digestive problems.

It is recommended that fruits should be eaten 20-30 minutes prior to the meal. The main reason behind this is, fruits contain sugar and thus they take time to break down. If we have fruits immediately before or after he meal, it takes time to digest. This wastes the essential nutrients that are found in the fruits. Hence it is always recommended that fruits if eaten minutes before the meals supplies all type of nutrients that are in the fruit.Many cultures have the policy of eating fruits soon after the meals or we see in many functions that fruit salad are served after we are done with the meal. This trend however can be changed.

Eat Fruits Before Meals For Better Health

Here are some of the main reasons as to why fruits should be eaten before the meal:

1. Fruits should always be eaten twenty or thirty minutes prior to the meals. And if you want to have food after the meals then you can only have it after the wait of three hours (after the food to digests). Having fruits before the meals also helps in reducing weight as you feel fuller.

2. Since our body do not get any food during the eight to nine hours of the sleep, it is recommended to include fruits in your diets every morning (before breakfast). This helps increase the blood sugar levels in the body. Eating fruit is a gentle way of starting your day.

3. Avoid eating fruits as side dish with the meal. Likewise, eating fruit as a dessert does not give the best results for the body as the fruits are chopped and are mixed with sugar laden salad mix or ice cream.

4. It is better to completely avoid canned, frozen fruit or fruit that has been processed. These fruits are high in sugar content, preservatives or other chemical additives that can be harmful for the body. They are not considered to be healthy fruits.

5. Eating healthy fruits every morning on empty stomach (before breakfast), helps the body to absorb all the necessary and essential nutrition that are found in the fruits.

These are some of the reasons to have fruits before the meal. Inculcating this habit will benefit your health in a long run.
