By Tara Hari

Secretions from the vagina is called vaginal discharge. In terms of consistency, vaginal discharge can be thick, pasty or thin. The colour and smell might vary according to each woman. Once you reach childbearing age, a certain amount of vaginal discharge is considered normal. There are certain glands in the cervix that produces this clear mucus, which might turn white or yellow depending to exposure to air.

The amount of mucus produced may vary in intensity throughout the menstrual cycle. This is considered normal and usually based on the amount of estrogen produced and circulating in the body.
