Non-vegetarian food lovers find it very difficult to quit the juicy meat from their diet. But, weight gain, religious issues and boredom can make you decide to quit non-vegetarian foods. It is not easy to become a vegetarian. Many non-vegetarian foodies call veg lovers as people who survive on dull and tasteless grasses. However, vegetarian diet is filled with nutrients, proteins and minerals that is very essential for the body. Even meat like chicken, salmon and fish have these elements but, green vegetables are however loaded with more proteins and vitamins. So, if you want to become a vegetarian, here are few tips for you to turn your diet in a healthy way.
Healthy ways to become a vegetarian:
Decide: You can't simply leave your favourite non-veggie foods just to include spinach, paneer and broccoli in your diet. There are many reasons to become a vegetarian. Animal foods are high in fat, calories, are carb deficient. They arwe also the home for germs and parasites that attack the stomach and intestines etc. If you turn into a vegetarian, you can utilise the whole grains, legumes or pulses, fresh green and leafy vegetables etc. So, decide if you really want to turn vegetarian or not.
Start gradually: It is not easy to become a vegetarian. You need to have patience and do everything gradually and steadily. Take a step by step guidance to quit non veg foods. Start by reducing the amount of non-veg foods in your diet. Slowly exclude meat, fish and then eggs. Do not leave out everything of your diet together. You can't control your cravings then.
Include veg meals: If you suddenly stop having non-veg foods, you will always get tempted to add a little in your meal. It is obvious as you are used to eating meat and thus cannot quit instantly. The easiest way is to welcome veg foods in your meal. If you have non-vegetarian meal three times a the day, reduce it. Plan a menu. In two meals have non-veg foods but in one meal, have only veg dishes. This will help you become a vegetarian gradually and with ease.
Develop a likeness: You might love chicken steaks with cheese dip or chilli sauce. Have you ever tried barbeque paneer steak? It is similar to chicken and is a vegetarian substitute for the non-vegetarians. Buy a cookbook and start preparing tasty vegetarian recipes, this will help you develop a likeliness, taste and interest towards vegetarian foods.
These are few tips or step by step guidance to become a vegetarian. Do not entirely leave non-vegetarian dishes until you feel confident of just surviving on a vegetarian diet. When you are ready to quit, check for how long you can live without non-vegetarian foods. If you cheat yourself by binging on chicken or meat after turning a vegetarian, then start again.
