For women who are trying to conceive, consuming foods that can balance their hormones and ward off chronic diseases is important.
Some of these foods can turn out to be hormone disruptors, while a few can increase your risk of contracting chronic diseases.
Further, if you're trying to get pregnant or breastfeeding, then there are many foods that you need to keep completely off the list by all means.
Some foods can mess with your fertility, put you at a risk of weight gain as well as developing a heart disease. In this article, we have mentioned some of the top foods that women should avoid at any cost or not take regularly.

1. Alcohol:
Drinking alcohol if you're trying to get pregnant is not allowed, as it can be hamper with your goals. Women who drink at least one alcoholic drink per day are at a 50% greater risk of infertility compared to women who do not drink. This was also confirmed in the study 'Tobacco Use, Alcohol consumption And Infertility'.
2. Red Meat:
This can have a negative impact on your ability to get pregnant. It was found that women who ate animal protein had a greater chance of being infertile. This is one of the foods women should not eat.
3. Swordfish:
Swordfish needs to be avoided, no matter whether you're pregnant or are trying to get pregnant. It is one of the second highest mercury-intoxicated fish and its mercury levels can be 0.99 parts per million. This will let you know what are the foods that a pregnant woman should avoid.
4. Fat-free Yogurt:
Fat-free yogurt, especially flavoured ones, can be sugar bombs that can spike your blood sugar and insulin levels. It was found that women who ate more of fat-free dairy products were at 85% higher risk of ovulatory infertility.
5. White Bread:
White bread is made of refined carbohydrates and your body processes refined carbohydrates like sugar. Refined carbs are stripped off all fibre and this can cause blood sugar and insulin levels to spike.
6. Diet Soda:
These are filled with chemicals and additives that are very bad for your belly. As per a survey, it was found that people who drank soda regularly had three times the amount of belly fat over a 9-year period than those who did not.
7. Fruit Juice:
Fruit juices are loaded with sugar and can increase the risk of heart diseases in women. Further, fruit juices are filled with glucose, fructose and these up the risk of inflammation and cardiovascular disease.
8. Canned Biscuits:
Heart disease is the number-one killer for women, so you need to pay extra attention to your heart health in your early 40s. Canned biscuits contain trans-fat that are known to raise the cholesterol levels and also diminish the memory in adults over 45 years.
9. Coffee Creamer:
This is also another source of trans-fat. These are also often made with trans-fatty hydrogenated oils. Even trace of these processed trans-fats can actually be bad for your heart.
10. Margarine:
This is made with partially hydrogenated oils and is also one of the common sources of trans-fat. It not only increases the risk of heart disease, but accelerates the ageing of the skin. This is one of the foods women should never eat. This will let you know what foods should you avoid if you're trying to lose weight.
11. Extra Large Coffee:
Too much of anything is bad and the same is applicable for coffee as well. Taking in more than 400 milligrams of caffeine per day can cause calcium excretion and also lead to osteoporosis. This is also mentioned in the study 'Calcium Metabolism in Postmenopausal Osteoporotic Women Is Determined by Dietary Calcium and Coffee Intake'.
12. Non-Fat Milk:
Milk contains vitamin D that helps boost weight loss, fights depression and also prevents osteoporosis. But vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin, hence it requires some fat to be absorbed. But skimmed milk has all its fat removed. Further, skimmed milk is also linked with infertility. This is one of the foods to be avoided by women.
13. Canned Vegetables:
Many cans are laced with bisphenol A or BPA. This is an industrial chemical that is used in various foods and beverage containers. It was also found that BPA can affect the cell functioning in the brain. Further, it also impacts the central nervous system development and is bad for health.
