Woman of the house is usually the last one to eat the food. And many a times she is left with the smallest portion of food. This is probably one of reasons of malnutrition among women in India. However, malnutrition is not always a result of poverty. You might experience some signs of malnutrition even if you do not come from a poverty stricken family. It is seen among women from a well-to-do families as well.

There is a very simple explanation for this. Women ignore their health issues until they are out of hand. Signs of malnutrition do not appear suddenly. They develop slowly over time and women get accustomed to them. Moreover, young women suffer from malnutrition because they do not eat right. Junk food does not have any nutrients to speak off.
