If not taken care of, the nail would become thick and painful, making it difficult for one to wear shoes. At times, it would also emit a foul smell, following which the nail would fall off.

Several ointments and tablets are available as a curative measure to treat toenail fungal infection; however, of all, Ayurvedic, home remedies are known to have the best cure for such a toenail fungal infection.

Here are 10 quick Ayurvedic remedies for a toenail fungal infection. Have a look:

1. Tea Tree Oil:

Dip cotton in tea tree oil and apply it on the toe nail twice in a day, once in the morning and once before bedtime. This will have effective results in lowering the infection.

Take a teaspoon of olive oil and add a few drops of oregano essential oil to it. Mix it and apply it on the toe nail. This helps in treating the fungal infection effectively.

Take a teaspoon of turmeric powder, mix it with some water and prepare a thick paste. Apply it on the toe nail. Once it gets dry, wash it off and dry your feet properly.

Cedar has antiseptic and antifungal properties. Soak the leaves or the bark of cedar in a bottle of either almond oil or olive oil. Keep it for about a week or two and then apply it on the toe nails.

Its antifungal properties help kill the fungus. Soak the calendula leaves in hot boiling water for half an hour, dip the toe nails in this water. Keep it for a while and rinse thoroughly.

The roots of licorice which have antifungal properties need to be boiled in hot water. Later, allow it to get absorbed in the water for about half an hour. Soak cotton cloth in the solution and then dab it on top of the toenails and rinse your feet dry when done.
