Ayurvedic Remedies To Cure Asthma

According to a study, about 15 per cent of the Indian population is suffering from asthma. Asthma is a respiratory disease that is caused by the inflammation of the respiratory tract. Ayurvedic remedies to cure asthma help a great deal in relieving the patients of asthma and its symptoms.

The characteristics of asthma include shortness of breath, wheezing and tightness in the chest. There can be many causes behind it. Some of the causes are genetic factors, change in weather conditions, excessive pollution, smoking and inflammation of the respiratory passage.

Flax Seeds

Honey

Honey is known for its antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and healing properties which are very beneficial in the case of asthma. It helps in preventing bacterial infection and its anti-inflammatory property helps in lowering inflammation that helps in lowering wheezing.

Coffee

Many perceive black coffee as not a very healthy componenet, as it contains a lot of caffeine; but the studies have proven otherwise. Black coffee can be a great remedy to cure asthma too. It helps in melting the mucus formation in the chest, thereby keeping shortness of breath caused by asthma in check.

Consuming several cups of black coffee in a day can help keep inflammation and wheezing in check.

 

Turmeric

Turmeric, aka Haldi, is a powerhouse herb that is known to be an excellent cure for many common illnesses. With its antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, it can be a great cure for asthma too. Curcumin, a compound present in Haldi, has anti-inflammatory properties that help keep inflammation of the respiratory passage in check.

We recommend consuming a teaspoon of Haldi every day to cure asthma permanently. But, avoid taking milk with it, as it can cause mucus which can further aggravate the asthma symptoms.

 

Garlic

Garlic is one of the best known herbs to mankind. Due to its anti-inflammatory properties, it is known to cure various ailments from cardiovascular diseases to asthma. Its anti-inflammatory property keeps respiratory passage inflammation in check. We would recommend consuming a few cloves of garlic every day to keep asthma and respiratory diseases at bay.

Eucalyptus Oil

One of the worst symptoms arising due to asthma is that it clogs the air passage which causes shortness of breath. Eucalyptus oil helps in clearing these blocked passages and it also provides an immediate relief from the shortness of breath.

We would recommend pouring a few drops of eucalyptus oil in some hot water and taking the steam from it that will provide an instant relief.
